World map quiz

All 197 countries: find each one on the map, or name the one shown.

How it works

  1. Choose Find, Name or Learn.
  2. Find: tap the country named at the top. You have three tries; after the third it is shown to you. Skip (or the S key) saves a country for the end of the round, with the tries it has left.
  3. Name: the country lit up on the map is the question; type its name. Spelling slips in long names are forgiven.
  4. Drag to move the map, pinch or use + and − to zoom. Very small countries carry a dot you can tap.
  5. At the end you see your score and time, and can play only the ones you missed.

Why play here

The whole world in one round
All 193 UN members plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Expect around 20 minutes the first time.
Typing is free
The harder Name mode, where you type each country, costs nothing here.
Learn before you play
Learn mode lets you explore the map freely before a timed round.
Practise what you missed
One tap replays just the countries you got wrong, until you know them all.

Questions

Which countries are in the world quiz?

The 193 member states of the United Nations, the two observer states (Vatican City and Palestine), and Kosovo and Taiwan. Territories such as Greenland or Puerto Rico are drawn in grey and never asked.

Why is my country’s border drawn this way?

Borders follow Natural Earth, a public map data set, at a scale that suits a whole-world map. Disputed areas are drawn as that data set draws them, which is not a statement about any claim.
