Sudoku
Three a day, the same for everyone. Each has one answer and can be solved by reasoning alone: no guessing.
How it works
- Choose easy, medium or hard. Tap a cell, then a digit; tap the digit again to clear it. On a keyboard, type digits and move with the arrows.
- Turn Notes on to pencil in the digits a cell could hold. Placing a digit rubs it out of the notes in its row, column and box.
- Stuck? Hint shows the next step and says why it works. Press it again to take the step.
- Check marks any digit that is not the answer, only when you ask. Earlier days are under the date.
Why play here
- No mistake limit
- A digit that repeats in a row, column or box is marked at once, because that is the rules. Whether it is the answer you find out only if you press Check.
- Hints that teach
- Every hint names the step a person would take, from «the only place left for a 7 in this box» to a pair of cells that rules digits out, and lights the cells it is about.
- Graded by the reasoning
- Easy needs only singles; medium adds a digit locked in one line of a box; hard adds pairs and triples. Never by clue count alone.
- Every day, free
- Every earlier day’s three puzzles are free to play, with no account.
Questions
Is it the same puzzle for everyone?
Yes. Each day’s three puzzles are the same for everyone on that date, so you can compare times with friends.
Can a puzzle need guessing?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and we only keep puzzles that the hint steps can finish from start to end.
Where is my progress kept?
In this browser. Leave mid-puzzle and it is here when you come back, with your time.
What do the levels mean?
Easy: hidden and naked singles only. Medium: also pointing and claiming (a digit locked in a line of a box). Hard: also naked pairs and triples and hidden pairs.
