Nonogram
Three a day, the same for everyone. Logic only: one answer, no guessing.
How it works
- The numbers beside a row are the runs of filled cells in it, in order: «3 1» means three filled cells, at least one gap, then one more. The numbers above a column work the same way, top to bottom.
- Tap a cell to fill it. Switch to Cross to mark a cell you know is empty; crosses are only for you. Drag along a row or a column to fill or cross many at once, and drag back to take them off. When a line’s filled cells match its clue, its other cells are crossed for you; Undo takes them back with your last move, and «Cross finished lines» turns this off.
- A row’s or column’s numbers turn grey when its filled cells make them. The puzzle is solved when every row and column is.
- Stuck? Hint names a line and the cells it forces, and says why. Press it again to take the step. Earlier days are under the date.
Why play here
- No lives, no timer pressure
- A wrong cell is never punished. Turn on «Show mistakes» if you want them marked as you go, or leave it off and find them yourself. Either way you finish the puzzle.
- Logic only
- Every puzzle is dealt only if it can be finished one line at a time, from what every way a line’s numbers can fit has in common. So there is one answer and no guess.
- Made for a phone
- A Fill and Cross switch under your thumb, a drag that stays on its line, a whole 15 × 15 on the screen, and bigger cells when you want them.
- Every day, free
- Every earlier day’s three puzzles are free to play, with no account. Your progress stays in this browser.
Questions
How do I start a nonogram?
Look for a line whose numbers nearly fill it. In 10 cells, an 8 can start no later than cell 3 and must end no sooner than cell 8, so cells 3 to 8 are filled whatever happens. Hint shows this kind of step.
What are the crosses for?
For you: they mark cells you are sure are empty, which tells you where the runs can no longer go. The puzzle does not need them to be solved.
Is it the same puzzle for everyone?
Yes. Each day’s three are the same for everyone on that date, so you can compare times with friends. The card you copy at the end gives your time, not the picture.
Can a puzzle need guessing?
No. We keep only puzzles that the line-by-line reasoning Hint uses can finish from start to end.
